Botanical Name: Diospyros malabarica

White Ebony, sometimes identified as Indian Persimmon, Gaub tree or Malabar Ebony is a hardwood native to the Indian Subcontinent and South East Asia.

Noted for its visually distinctive and boldly graphic creamy pale yellow colour streaked with tan to chocolate brown and black stripes, White Ebony is finely textured and one of the most desirable veneers on the market. It is especially valued for bespoke furniture design projects, musical instrument making and fine marquetry.
