Bark & Rock
Birch Masur Burr
Where: Finland and Russia
Botanical Name: Betula pendula
Masur Birch is not a particular species of birch, but rather a distinctive figuring that is most commonly seen in Downy and also Silver Birch. Once thought to have been caused by the activity of a specific type of beetle larvae, Masur Birch has now been revealed as the result of a hereditary condition in certain trees.
Masur Birch is commonly used for turned objects, knife handles and other small specialty items that use decorative veneer.
Please note: since wood is a natural product, your Bark & Rock notebook truly is unique and is likely to differ in both pattern and shade from the photographs on our website. These are designed to be indicative of a given type of wood in general.
