Production Process

1. VENEER SELECTION

Each veneer is carefully selected and checked for imperfections before being cut to one of our book sizes. It is then bonded onto an intermediate material and pressed to remove any air bubbles.

2. LASER CUTTING

The book cover is cut to its finished size including its spine which is engineered to create maximum flexibility.

3. FINISHING

The books are filled and sanded where required. Lacquer is then applied in multiple layers to create a matte, satin or high gloss finish which varies depending on the wood. The books are left to dry fully before the next stage.

4. QUALITY CONTROL

Each book is individually checked for optimum quality and finish and the best side is selected for the front cover. The books are then secured to a form for a period of time to ensure that the wood ‘learns’ to stay folded.

5. ASSEMBLY

In the final stage, the paper section, which is refillable, is screwed into the books. These are then packaged and catalogued ready for dispatch.
