Camphor Burr has a particularly dense and unusually vibrant blend of sapwood and heartwood. These elements combine to produce natural patterns which include ripple and wave effects as well as interlocked grains that range markedly from light to dark. Tones include light yellow and olive through to oranges, reds, brownish greys and golden browns. These rich variations make it popular for furniture and electric guitar making.
Camphor Burr has a strong aromatic fragrance which can linger pleasantly in the wood for years. The trees, which are native to Southern China, Taiwan, Southern Japan, Korea and Vietnam, can reach heights of 30 metres.
