The distinctive swirling motifs in this hardwood look like eyes. This enchanting visual effect is created by depressions in the surface of the trunk which distort the tree’s growth rings into attractive patterns. Adding to the mystique, this anomaly cannot be discovered until a maple tree is actually logged.
Bird’s Eye Maple is a particularly refined, light toned wood which has been popular with designers throughout the ages. It comes from the Sugar Maple otherwise known as Rock Maple tree which is native to Eastern North America, Canada and Asia, where it first originated.
