Bark & Rock
Where: England, UK
Botanical name: Ulmus minor
Harvested from English trees, our Elm Burr is highly valued for its particularly intricate and dense swirling textures and tones. These include lighter areas interspersed with darker demarcations in soft honey shades through to rich browns flecked with black.
Elm is often used in decorative wood turning and for furniture design. Being noted for its resistance to water it is also traditionally used in boat-building. Thanks to this unusual property, prior to metal becoming widely available, many English towns actually had water mains pipes constructed of Elm wood. Please note: since wood is a natural product, your Bark & Rock notebook truly is unique and is likely to differ in both pattern and shade from the photographs on our website. These are designed to be indicative of a given type of wood in general.
