Bark & Rock

Mango Crown

Where: Asia and India

Botanical name: Mangifera Indica

We love Mango’s green credentials. Once the trees have ceased to bear their delicious fruit they can be harvested for their wood. The resulting veneer is considered to be an eco-conscious by-product of the food industry, which really appeals to our sense of zero waste.

We also love Mango wood’s glowing sheen and rich colours which range from greenish browns through to occasional pinks and yellows, as well as golden shades streaked with darker tones bordering on black. It can have a straight or curly grain and our hand-finished books reflect these natural variations.

Mango is a hardwood and is often used for ukulele making as well as for the creation of small decorative objects and distinctive furniture designs.

Please note: since wood is a natural product, your Bark & Rock notebook truly is unique and is likely to differ in both pattern and shade from the photographs on our website. These are designed to be indicative of a given type of wood in general.
