Sustainability
At Bark & Rock we consider the environmental impact of all areas we operate in, from production to delivery, and aim to be as sustainable as possible in order to reduce both local and global environmental damage.
We are committed to:
- Ensuring our products are as sustainable as possible
- Ensuring packaging materials are recycled where possible
- Minimising waste
- Complying with all relevant legislation
- Continuous improvement and education
To achieve this, Bark & Rock:
- Operates a minimum waste practice, reducing the use of raw materials, energy and supplies where possible (for example, all our products are made to order so we only make what we know we'll sell)
- Use veneer for all our wood books. As several sheets of veneer are produced from a single log there is a vastly reduced demand on solid wood and natural wood resources than when using solid wood
- Ensures that all paper used within products is Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified
- Wherever possible, chooses non-harmful, non-polluting chemicals and technologies (for example, we use plant-based oil rather than a lacquer to finish our books)
- Has several recycling bins located throughout the premises
- Expects similar environmental standards from all suppliers and contractors
